  • Wanna keep your phone display on infinitely?

There’s always a time where you wanna keep your phone’s display on, so that you can refer it to do something (Like pack your luggage using a checklist from your phone). Well I started my search to do exactly that and came across this app called caffeine.

Caffeine is a simple app that adds a shortcut to your quick launch shortcut tray in the notification drop down that you can toggle on and off.

When toggled on, your phone’s display stays on to the duration you have set (Which you can obviously do from the settings app). But the beauty of caffeine is you can set this display on time to infinite.

The main thing to note here is to enable “Deactivate automatically” option. This turns off caffeine when you use the power button to turn off the display.

If this option is not enabled, then your display doesn’t turn off even if you use the power button to turn your display off

Overall, this is really a simple and good app that lets you get things done using your phone while glancing at the display.

How you utilise this in your daily routine is an endless possibility that you can find. One such option that I recommended to you and the one for which I use caffeine is packing luggage with my checklist notes on.

Hope you learnt something new today. Support this blog by sharing this write up with your friends and fam and do follow my handle on insta to plan itineraries for your trips.

See you all in the next one✌🏻.

  • Microsoft’s all new launcher

Microsoft is working on an all new launcher called arrow which is in alpha stage now.

The launcher includes three pages, the first one being the frequently called contacts page. Kind of a call log page.

The second page being the recent and frequently used apps.

    image

You can see a small arrow above the central menu button. Swiping up brings a dock which has shortcuts and the app settings.

On seeing immediately you get the feel of iOS’ action center. The wallpaper hue on that also makes you feel like action center.

    image

I always want the calender icon to display realtime information like the current date and this app has such an icon.

Finally the last page contains notes and reminders which is kind of cool.

The page itself shows you how you can make use of it on your first installation.

    image

Tapping on the app drawer icon will take you to a vertically aligned apps page with a search bar on top. Pure windows style.

As i said earlier, this launcher is an alpha build means its not accessible to the public yet but if you are curious enough you can get an invite by joining in their google+ page.

Or you could go to this link and download the apk.

Another awesome thing i forgot to mention is you get to have a setting where you can use bing’s daily wallpaper as your wallpaper which is a very neat thing that microsoft will never stop flaunting.

Do check the launcher out and i assure you, you will not hesitate to keep it as your default launcher for sometime.

Negatives about this launcher is its an alpha build so you can experience some force closes may be which i have not experienced yet.

And you don’t have widget support yet which you might get after its released fully.

Thanks a lot for your time :).

  • Gramophone – A music player with real Material Design

Ofcourse we all know google play music currently owns the beautiful material design. But some people like me still don’t find play music as a music player. I am using poweramp(ofcourse the paid version). But today there was a wave which was different. Came across this music player called gramophone when I was casually cruising over twitter as usual. One bad thing for now is that, currently gramophone is in beta and also its not available for everyone in play store. You need to join in their community in google+ so that you can get a private play store link(whatever that means :/).

The music player has a slew of features just like any other music player out there in play store. One thing in which gramophone scores is the looks department. Ofcourse am also thinking of castro now.

There are 2 things which impressed me about this player.

    1. Floating play/pause button – Ofcourse it is the signature material design pattern

    2. Dynamic Colors – The player fetches the colors from the album art and it sprinkles it over the banner, status bar and even the nav bar.(fucking awesome (y)).

So head over here and have a look at what the devs have to say about their product. And do join in their g+ page for getting their private play store link. Meet you all in my next post. Have a nice day people.

  • Castro – A beautiful system app(finally!!!)

Hello everyone. So today i came across an app called Castro. This is just like any other system app which shows you your phone’s hardware information. But the area where it excels is in the looks department. You’d have used system apps which always looks like a geek’s toy. But this one is for the commercial user. You might ask why to add looks to an utility app???. Well it’s all about what you want and what you don’t want. They have clearly separated all the functionalities. What i mean is that, processor, memory, storage everything is now available as a separate section in the left side swipe menu. It’s available in play store and you can give it a try. Meanwhile have a look at the visual of the app.

Hope it’s visually wholesome. Do give it a try. Have a nice day people.

  • Chop to turn on 😉

Hey everyone, so today morning while reading the news as usual I came across this information about Moto X 2nd gen. This awesome piece of a phone is soon going to taste the latest version of lollipop that is 5.1. Along with that update Motorola will be rolling out a nifty little feature which takes use of the sensors it holds. Its about turning on and off the flash light. So what you need to do is to hold your phone as usual and you need to whack it!!!(LOL not on the table or floor :P). you need to perform a gesture as if you are chopping something off by tilting your wrists(twice is enough people) and voila. Let there be light. Do it again and the flash light turns off.

Wondering why my first official post is about Moto X 2nd gen?. You’ll come to know ;).
